The City of Ionia is the largest city in Ionia County, Michigan, and the county seat. It was organized into a city in 1873 making this year its 150th anniversary of incorporation. This page highlights all the planned festivities.

Activities include: Proclamation by Mayor Balice, State of Michigan Tribute by
Senator Outman, Community Band performance, and tours of City Hall.
A special tribute to Ionia’s first Honorable Mayor Frederick Hall and family.
In honor of Marion Hall-Fowler, books will be distributed to children attending the
event. Visit the WOW (Words on Wheels) Bus on site.

A two mile walking tour of Downtown Shopping District and historic neighborhoods.
Funds raised benefit the Alzheimer’s Association and their efforts.

150th Anniversary Schedule of Events (PDF)
The City of Ionia is celebrating its 150th anniversary of becoming a municipality on October 6-8.
Friends, family, and visitors are invited to the official commemorative ceremony on Saturday, October 7th at 11:00 AM at City Hall, 114 N. Kidd Street.
The special occasion will be celebrated through multiple special events over the course of the weekend.
