Santa Mail

We are working with Santa again this year!  The festivities begin on Friday November 17th when Santa's Mailbox returns.  Stop by anytime prior to December 15th and drop off a letter to Santa.  No postage necessary.

Santa will be sure to write you back prior to Christmas, but you must include your name and return address to help the elves make sure you receive your letter!

Dog Park Coming Soon

The City of Ionia has received funding from a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to construct a dog park downtown near the corner of Adams and Steele Streets. The dog park will cost $375,000 with 80% of the funds provided by the grant. View the Dog Park Site Plan (PDF) and Concept Renderings (PDF) to visualize what the park will look like.

Parks & Recreation Plan Update

The City of Ionia is currently in the process of updating its 5-year Parks and Recreation Plan. The proposed plan will be valid for 2024-2028. The plan will require a recommendation from the Planning Commission and a formal adoption from the City Council. There will be a public review and comment period available prior to action being taken by the Commission and Council. City Council will take action on this proposed plan at its December 6 meeting. Review the Draft Parks and Rec. Plan (2024-2028) (PDF) to see future Parks and Recreation goals.
